Also, I remember reading at the time that there would be a third installment in the series. Anyone have any information on that?Yes, that’s correct. In the book Elvis for CD Fans Only – Second Edition by Dale Hampton, there reads that “In October 1988 RCA were about to release the third in the Rocker titled Rocker III: The Rocker Comes Back (Catalog number 6425-2-R). It was pressed and ready for release when the decision was made to cancel it”.
I wonder that what happened? Records were already pressed, so why RCA didn’t released them? And I’m curious to know the tracklisting of that album too!
Could it be that The Rocker Comes Back was cancelled because of the big hoax back then in 1988 that our man was alive and kickin’? In 1988 Gail Brewer Giorgio published her book on this and it became a mayor issue in the news. I can imagine Joan Deary – as producer of the Elvis catalogue back then – just did not want to put more oil on the fire with a title like Comeback of The Rocker. I do not see any other reason why this record was cancelled other than this coinsidence with the publishing of that rediculous fiction novel.
